- Civil (Works)
- Four years Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a combination of any sub-stream of Basic streams of Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute.
- Signal & Telecommunication
- Four years Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Communication Engineering or M.Sc Electronics or a combination of any sub-stream of the basic stream of Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Communication Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
- Electrical Department
- Four years Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a combination of any sub-stream of basic streams of Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Age Limit:
For Senior Technical Associate (STA): 20-34 Years
For Junior Technical Associate (JTA): 18-32 Years
Age Relaxation:
For OBC candidates: 3 years
For SC/ST candidates: 5 years
No age relaxation is allowed for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved vacancies.

Selection Process:
For Senior Technical Associate (STA):
South Western Railway Recruitment 2023 Candidates will be shortlisted based on the ‘GATE score’ obtained in any one of the GATE examinations conducted between 2019 and 2023. Shortlisted candidates will be called for screening and verification of original documents.
For Junior Technical Associate (JTA):
South Western Railway Recruitment 2023 Candidates will be shortlisted based on the percentage marks obtained in the three-year diploma course. Shortlisted candidates will be called for screening and verification of original documents.
In cases where candidates with a Graduation Degree in Engineering or other educational qualification prescribed for the post of STA apply for the post of JTA, their percentage marks obtained in such educational qualifications will be considered and treated on par with candidates with educational qualifications prescribed for JTA without any preference or special treatment.
The minimum qualifying marks for different categories are as follows:
- General Candidates: 60%
- OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: 55%
- SC/ST Candidates: 50%
